Full House For Journey Launch
On Thursday, over 75 people joined John Fioravanti and Iceberg Publishing for the launch of A Personal Journey to the Heart of Teaching in the library of St. David Catholic Secondary School. In an evening that celebrated the profession of teaching, John spoke about his new book, read two passages, and answered questions on his 34 years of teaching experience.
“What an amazing evening,” John said after the event. “It was a real honor to be able to share the launch of Journey with so many wonderful people.”
The night’s crowd included members of John’s family, former students, and many interested teachers –– both rookies and veterans. After the completion of the readings, questions about John’s career and his philosophy of teaching ran for over half an hour.
“I love talking about teaching,” John explains. “I really hope that some of my past experiences can help rookies become better teachers more quickly than I was able to.”
Iceberg Partner and Author Kenneth Tam served as MC for the evening’s events, a role reversal from 2003, when John served as the MC for the launch of The Human Equation in the same venue.
“It’s a nice piece of symmetry,” Kenneth says. “Four years ago, John was a major part of launching my first novel in that very same library… I’m so honored to be able to return the favor now with his first book launch.”
Journey is Iceberg’s second non-fiction title, the first being Jacqui Tam’s Standing Tall: A Daughter’s Gift. It is available here from the Iceberg web store at its special event price of $15.
John continues now through his 35th and final year in the classroom, and as his primary focus for the coming terms will be on his students, he will have only limited availability for speaking and book events. Anyone interested in checking his availability can contact him via email.
